Better than movie popcorn and George Clooney

Who doesn't love going to the movies? And who doesn't love popcorn? Ok, maybe some people don't but I am not one of those people. I do not like the cost of movie popcorn though. Over $10 for cold popcorn covered in fake butter powder, not my idea of a treat. And judging by some of the comments posted yesterday on a photo that I shared on Instagram, I am not alone. I have something for you to try, if you haven't already. Home cooked popcorn cooked in coconut oil & sprinkled with pink Himalayan pink salt.

Fashion on a budget.

Fashion does not have to cost a fortune. There, I said it. I know there will be some who think differently but I truly believe you can develop your "own" style without breaking the bank. I have always loved spending my mornings on Instagram for inspiration for something fun & funky to wear that day. That's why I have decided to join in with Styling You for #everydaystyle. I want to show that you do not need to spend the grocery money on clothes. Sure, if you can afford to spend that much & that is your pleasure in life, then do it! I just know that with one income, a mortgage, 2 teenage daughters & everyday expenses, we can not afford to spend too much on clothes. That is why I always start with shopping at the sales & op shopping. Please do not be scared when I say op shopping.

Taking things slow and simple. Building a veggie garden

After my last post, I thought I should let you know, I am OK. I am dealing with everything that has been thrown at as in the only way I know how. To just keep going. I am a person who likes control, OK maybe I am a control freak. So when there are things going on in my life that I can't control, it sends me into survival mode. Literally. When finances and stability are all of a sudden put into the hands of a complete stranger, I like to make plans on how I can get back some of that control. I decided a few weeks back that I needed to get back to basics. I needed to build a veggie patch again.

Life has just sucked.

Well hello stranger! It has been far too long since I sat down to write a post. Life has been a complete roller coaster over the last few months. None of it has been fun at all. From sickness to surgeries, everyone around here has had something wrong. It has all put a bit, ok a lot, of stress on everyone but I am starting to think that we are starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I write that with trepidation as I don't want to jinx us. The stress has seen me taking comfort in my old friend, food. I think I may have even reached the heaviest that I have ever been. But I am not game enough to step on the scales. I am trying not to think about it too much but I feel completely uncomfortable in my own skin.

Teenage bedroom makeover & dressing table reveal.

This post is long overdue!!  Georgia's 14th birthday was over a month ago & I have only now gotten around to taking photos!! So, here goes.....

It's bright. It's cheerful. It's very Georgia because it also has a little boho thrown it.

A lot of things were handmade by me just for her. The fabric quote hanging above her bed that reads "Be honest. Be silly. Be kind" . She chose the quote & I love it! The macrame pot plant hanger was a surprise for her. The vintage crochet tablecloth that I used for a dreamcatcher was hand dyed using Tumeric for a lovely soft yellow colour. The clay arrow. All made by me just for her.

Even little clay wall hangings that I made using her favourite purple colours.

All of the other accessories were chosen by her to add a little fun & colour.

But by far her favourite thing is the vintage dressing table that she found on gumtree. She picked this gorgeous Aqua colour & I think it suits it perfectly! She sits at it every day to do her hair and makeup.

Even Miss Gracie gives it her seal of approval!

There is plenty of room on the walls for her to fill with photos, quotes and little wall hangings. I can see that this room will grow with her. We are still on the lookout for a nice comfy reading chair and a gorgeous rug. But for now, the room is finished!

Next is the eldest teens room which will have the complete opposite colour scheme!!

From Jos with love. xx

Hang on tight & enjoy the ride!

So, I thought that my eldest turning 16 was a big deal. Don't get me wrong, it was a huge deal! But now I have realised that it is just the start. It was a week of stressful studying for the learners licence! Holy shit! She passed! So now that sweet little baby that I held in my arms just a meer 16 years ago, is now sitting behind the wheel of the family car. How? Why? What am I supposed to do with this? I will teach her, that's what I will do.
